But you are advised not to be tempted by these claims without knowing the content of facial cleansing soap and skin type they have. To find out the type of skin, try washing your face using facial cleansing soap and dry it. Afterwards, don't use moisturizer or anything on the face. Wait for an hour then press the tissue or paper oil (oil paper) in the area of the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. If the face does not look shiny and there is no oil attached to the oil paper, chances are your skin is normal. Meanwhile, if the face feels tight and like being pulled, you have dry skin. Oily skin is characterized by oily oil paper or tissue when you stick it on the face. The term sensitive skin is used to describe skin that is prone to irritation from cosmetics and certain substances. Characteristics of sensitive skin are characterized by tight skin feeling, especially after using facial cleansing soap. This skin is also more prone to experiencing dryness that develops into dermatitis. In choosing facial cleansing soap for sensitive skin, it is recommended to choose products:
  • Soap or detergent free facial cleanser.
  • Products labeled hypoallergenic, because they do not contain substances that cause allergies.
  • Products without fragrance, because additional fragrances can cause allergies.
  • Avoid products that are made from irritants, such as sulfates and alcohol.

The cleansing content for oily skin

Oily skin is characterized by excessive oil (sebum) production by the skin. Oily skin looks shiny, has large pores, and feels dirty faster. In addition, make up difficult to stick and more prone to breakouts. However, oily skin also has a positive side. The oil on the face prevents the skin from drying out and protects the skin from the signs of premature aging. In choosing facial cleansing soap for sensitive skin, it is recommended to choose the product
  • Hyaluronic acid

  • Excess oil does not mean choosing facial cleansing soap that makes the skin dry. Choose facial cleansing soap containing hyaluronic acid that can moisturize without making the skin feel heavy.
  • Niacinamide

  • Niacinamide effectively absorbs sebum so the skin feels not too oily. In addition, niacinamide can also stimulate natural collagen production and disguise large pores.
  • Retinol

  • Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that is useful to disguise wrinkles and overcome hyperpigmentation. Retinol also stimulates collagen production and tightens pores, and controls oil production.
  • Salicylic acid

  • Salicylic acid works by absorbing oil in the pores. The result is smaller pores and oil free.
  • Glycolic acid (glycolic acid)

  • Glycolic acid reduces excess oil, prevents clogging of pores, and maintains skin softness, and stimulates exfoliation of skin cells.
  • Dimethicone

  • Dimethicone makes the skin feel smooth and non-greasy after washing your face.
For those of you who have oily skin, avoid facial cleansing soap containing mineral oil, petrolatum, and petroleum, because this content is comedogenic which can clog pores and increase the risk of acne.

Cleansing Soap for Dry Skin

  • Vitamin E and jojoba oil are easily absorbed by the skin and moisturizes without making the skin feel oily.
  • Urea

  • Urea can help overcome the condition of dry skin. This is reinforced by studies that say that urea can help reduce water loss which makes skin dry quickly.
For dry skin types, avoid facial cleansing soaps that contain:
  • Detergent / SLS (sodium laureth sulfate)

  • Soap without detergent may not foam, but this does not affect the effectiveness of the product in cleaning the skin.
  • Salicylic acid and glycolic acid

  • Salicylic acid and glycolic acid are recommended for owners of oily skin. But if it is used by dry skin owners, both of these substances can absorb oil that is actually needed by dry skin.
  • Alcohol, additional fragrances, and antibacterial ingredients

  • Choose alcohol-free products and additional fragrances, because both of these substances make the skin more dry. Antibacterial facial cleansing soap is also not recommended for dry skin owners because it can irritate the skin so that it aggravates the condition of dry skin.

Facial Cleanser for Combination Skin

Combination skin feels oily in the T area (forehead, nose and chin), but in other areas it is dry or normal. Owners of combination skin may also have shiny faces, blackheads, and large-looking pores. Because of these different types, you can use two facial cleansing soaps according to problems with facial skin. But still avoid facial cleansers that contain alcohol, fragrance, and are antibacterial. Choose a facial cleansing gel textured gel that can cleanse and moisturize, but does not clog pores.

The content of facial cleanser for normal skin

Not too dry and not too oily is a characteristic of normal skin. In general, normal skin has no problems with the appearance of fine pores and clean skin. Choose facial cleansing soap that can hydrate the skin. If the skin feels dry after washing your face, replace it with facial cleansing soap whose formula is softer. In addition to the content, the type and texture of facial cleansing soap is also important. Stem-shaped soap can make skin more prone to dryness and irritation, due to its harsh formula. Use liquid or foam facial cleansing soap because it is softer. After the face is clean, apply a moisturizer to restore the sulfuric moisture. After that, apply sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 to protect the skin from the dangers of ultraviolet rays. Avoid direct sunlight, especially at 10 am to 2 pm. For a clean facial skin thoroughly, balance skin care with a healthy lifestyle, such as drinking lots of water, exercising, and eating healthy foods. By knowing the type of skin and being careful about the content of facial cleansing soap, you can determine the most suitable cleanser. But if the product used actually causes problems on the skin, do not hesitate to consult a dermatologist.
